Books and Book Objects are an important part in my artistic work. I am writing texts and poetry as long as I can think and amassed an impressive collection of notebooks, journals and artist books over 50 years.
They represent containers for memory, vehicles for narrative, and sculptures that invite intimate engagement. Unlike paintings that command wall space, artist books require to slow down, to unfold, to discover.
My work explores themes of time and space, architecture, colour relationships, and the intersection of text and image. The artist books employ diverse techniques including hand printing and monotypes as well as watercolour, gouache, printmaking, and innovative paper-folding structures. My approach to book arts is informed by my background in abstract painting, bringing a painter’s sensibility to color relationships and composition within the book format.
