Early Works (1985-1995)

Hand-bound volumes featuring monoprint, collage, and text integration – the foundation of my book arts practice.

“Books of the Days” / Naveganças Series (1992-2025)

An ongoing visual diary of accordion-fold books documenting daily creative practice across three decades and three continents. See works from:

  • Germany period (1992-2001): Original pieces from when the series began
  • Canadian period (2001-2025): Works created across my three BC studios

Contemporary Folded Book Sculptures (2015-2025)

Vibrant geometric abstractions in accordion-fold format featuring bold color relationships and innovative paper engineering.

Experimental Mixed Media Works (2000-2025)

Pieces blurring boundaries between book, sculpture, and painting.


TIMELINE: 40 YEARS OF ARTIST BOOKS

1985 | Began creating artist books in Germany alongside painting practice

1992 | Started Naveganças / Books of the Days series as daily portable practice

1994 | First exhibition of Naveganças / Books of the Days series at SESC Pompeia, São Paulo, Brazil

2000 | Major installation “The Ups and Downs of the Days 1992-2000” at Galeriehaus Nord, Nuremberg (35+ works)

2001 | Immigrated to Canada, bringing 100 Naveganças books from 350 created in Germany

2001-2025 | Continued daily practice across three Canadian studios (Vancouver, Tsawwassen, Burnaby), creating 500+ additional books

2024 (October) | Became Canadian citizen after 23 years as permanent resident

2025 | Participating in Alcuin Wayzgoose, presenting 40 years of artist book practice
December: LeonArt, Nuremberg: Naveganças

2026 | Naveganças returns to São Paulo, Brazil – 32 years after first exhibition there


ABOUT ALCUIN WAYZGOOSE

Presented by the Alcuin Society, Wayzgoose is Vancouver’s premier book arts event, bringing together letterpress printers, fine book artists, papermakers, calligraphers, and book arts enthusiasts for a celebration of traditional and contemporary book crafts.

The fair features demonstrations, exhibitions, and sales from over 20 regional artists and studios. I’m honored to participate alongside Vancouver’s exceptional book arts community!
